Hello everyone! Ive read some posts about having more than one hermit crab....... And I only had ONE (I MEAN ONE ONLY) for 9 months! He has literally NO problem? Should I buy him a pal or does he sound good without one for now?

Hermit crabs are social creatures and live in large colonies in the wild. It would probably be best if your crab had a couple of friends, at least.

I would say that you should definitely buy a friend or a couple friends.
EDIT: I also wanted to add that in my experience, solitary crabs are not as healthy and they have a higher chance for premature death.

All creatures need to be able to interact with other creatures. Even solitary creatures who shun others of the same species still interact with other species in day to day life. Hermit Crabs are accustomed to living large colonies in the wild and ALL commercially sold crabs come from the wild. My own personal "motto" for all pets in my care is "We shall not survive, we shall thrive." Please get your little crab some one to talk to. He will be happier.

I can understand that. My best suggestion is to sit down with them and show them all of the research you have been doing on crab care. They may be more "open" to the idea.

Yes, I agree. For me it always worked to do a "mini project" like printing pictures or drawing and a little write up. Also it's a good idea to save a little money before you ask as they will not want to pay for it, and it helps show that you're serious.
my brother and I actually wrote up a little "contract" of chores when we wanted a puppy, and then we took care of a stuffed dog for a couple weeks first. I know it's not the same thing, but if you think your parent will resist, show them that you're serious and that you want the responsibility. It always helps in my family.

Thanks for the idea! But my mom is wondering about the size of the tank. Mr.Crabs is as big as a mini pinch pot. And she asked if two mini pinch pot size crabs fit in a ten gallon tank?
