HCA: Hermit Crab Association

We recently cleaned out the crabs tat. At some point one of our big crabs, King Henry VIII, managed to escape and we didn't realize it. This morning my husband found him by the side of our bed trying to climb a set of drawers. He's been out for up to 5 days and we had no clue he was gone. I'm kind of glad he didn't end up in the bed because I'm pretty sure I'd have freaked out and had a heart attack and died.




Edit to say my husband thinks he hitched a ride in my purse. Although unlikely, that would be funny.

I'm glad he's none the worse for the wear.

He was properly scolded but he's perfectly fine. I think he's been sulking because he's had his Big Adventure cut short.

RIP Krabby Patty and Baby

Haha I recently had the same thing happen. I was actually resetting my smaller tank, fixing the caddies and deep cleaning water dishes and food dishes rearranging cholla wood and coco huts. I walked away to get the clean water and rinse out the poop filled shower caddies. During that time kavo escaped I found him two days later trying to hide under my dryer. Five years ago when I set up my 10 gallon I was back to crabbing since I was a kid. I didn't use anything to weigh down the top of the tank. So when I was taking a shower I got out and saw tahlia my teeny crab sitting on my towel. Not sure how long she had been out exploring the house.
