So yesterday I contacted a lady on Craigslist about some hermit crabs that she was selling with their 10 gallon tank and all supplies for 50 bucks. Since I dont need the supplies, I asked her about just adopting out the crabs. To my surprise, she said yes and we agreed on a place to meet.
She had 3 crabs in a large KK with a climbing toy? and a few shells. One shell is painted, and the other two are the wrong type for them.
This was my first adoption, and Im happy I got them!
Also, Ive heard theres a way to remove the paint from the shells? How can I do this to the one they came with so it can be placed in my tank?
(All 3 have painted shells )
Thanks!

Re: Adoption!
Congrats on the adoption!!
I've had luck with just picking and peeling the pant off. If the crabs are wearing them, wait until they change first. Toothpicks help get into the little crevices. Boiling to soften the paint up can help. Some painted shells are more difficult than others.

Yay ! More little lives rescued! My last two additions also came from a craigslist posting and were living in even worse conditions than you've described. Thank you for adopting.
