HCA: Hermit Crab Association

So one of my crabs has all skinny orange colored legs. however, one of his legs is about twice as wide as the others and is a dark redish purple color. Does this mean he lost all of his legs at one point before i got him or is that normal? None of my other crabs legs are like that.

Is the thicker, darker leg his shield leg? Can you post a picture?

This is the best that i can do. He kept moving so everything came out blurry. it's the back right leg.

It is possible. If they molt and grow back the leg then it will oftentimes be smaller. If so, his legs will bulk up with good food and time.

He looks sort of like his leg was flattened while he was soft then hardened that way, but it could be the camera angle. The legs look fine otherwise.

It could also be the armor leg. That is the visible leg that protects the hermit crab while the crab is in its shell.

My crabs all have the armor the back left leg is bright flaming red and thicker. My one crab pina has a much brighter leg than the other 3 her big pincher is almost fake purple its so neon bright and same with her leg which is the brightest flaming red orange. It's probably that
