I don't believe there is any way to force a crab to molt. I have read that some people have had their crabs molt right after a substrate is changed. So maybe a ISO tank with fresh deep substrate might help him go down. Maybe some other members can chime in on this.

This might help.
"Health: Molting" subforum ( viewtopic.php?t=92527 )
To encourage successful molts, feed your crabs a high protein diet, and supplement with calcium. Protein will give the crab the energy and nutrients it needs to molt, and calcium helps the crab develop his new exoskeleton. There are many other key elements in their diets, but these two are the most important for molting. Protein is found in meat, such as shrimp, beef or poultry, as well as bugs, bee pollen, crab carapace and nuts. Calcium is found in cuttlebones, egg shells, oyster shells, and also in insects and crustaceans that have a hard exoskeleton.
Is it affecting his eating habits? Any pictures?

The wound will repair itself after the next molt or so. It will not affect the crabs ability to eat.

Since this is not an emergency I am moving it to the appropriate thread.

Yeah. I'm pretty sure I know who it was but have no way to prove it.

Ouch! Poor baby. In addition to the other foods mentioned, organic honey might be good. It has natural antibiotic properties and is a good energy boost. That looks like a painful injury with exposed flesh. :(

We have some honey at the house but it doesn't say organic. It just says made by bees. Is that good enough.

It doesn't have to be organic, it just needs to be unprocessed and unfiltered.
