HCA Member Card.
I remember reading a post about someone visiting a pet store where the crabs were kept in such awful conditions, that they demanded to take the crab in mention to give it better care. When the pet store refused, they produced a Hermit Crab Association membership card, and sort of persuaded them over. Has anyone ever heard of or seen such a thing? I've been looking around and can't find anything similar.

We do/did. It hadn't been updated in a decade and used an old format, so the link to it got waylaid! It may still be on the server somewhere but I don't have the logins on anything but my laptop, which is currently out of commission.

Okay so my opinion here is that if you want to print the card out and have it for novelty reasons that's okay.
Using it to persuade pet stores to hand over crabs really misrepresents the forum and can give us a bad name.
Being a member of this forum doesn't grant us any sort of authority to do things like that at all.

That's not my plan, especially seeing as there actually aren't any pet stores near me with hermits. I was going to use it entirely for novelty.soilentgringa wrote:Okay so my opinion here is that if you want to print the card out and have it for novelty reasons that's okay.

Lmao I'd love to have cards to give to people when I sell them at work. Corporate would have a field day
As for approaching workers about hermit crab care: be kind. Some of us know what is right and what isn't for them. Others don't know. A few don't care at all. No matter, people don't listen to demanding or rude people!!!!! You can mention that it would be nice to see the crabs with higher humidity, at least an inch of sub so they can regulate (we are not allowed to have deep substrate. We would get in trouble with corporate), ask if they can have proper food (No pellets), etc.
Workers are humans too! Working at a perstore is a heck of a lot of work!!

The person so had a card was Christia Wilkins, who was the creator of this website back in the early 2000s

Goodbye my little E. See you soon.
Bye Fred. You lasted almost 4 years with me. Hope you're with my E now! See you soon Reeba as well. I can't believe I lost you only after a month.

I got a new wallet a few months ago and had put mine back in my desk. It was good for adoptions, in case anyone had follow up questions or wanted to check in. I think there are still a few at the local petstore, in case a customer had more hermit questions than what the staff could answer.
There is a lot of backend stuff that needs worked on. I was never given carte blanche over that stuff by either owner, but I can get in to make small changes so long as I have a working laptop! I never set up the login and password, I just have a save file with it stored which is why I am stuck.
