HCA: Hermit Crab Association

Found this in the tank. Of the 6 crabs in the tank, only 2 are above ground. The others have been buried for quite awhile... 4 or 5 months, probably more.

Does this look like a molt? Or death? There is no stink, and of the two crabs walking around right now, none will answer my question "Who did this?". They just stare at me like I'm crazy!

A crab would have died if there was meat inside the claw

It looks completely empty, so it has to be leftover from a molt.

No... No meat in there. Just a hollow claw. There IS some sand in there.

They often leave the pincher behind after molting, along with the tips of legs!
