You may struggle to find relevant books, most hermit crab care books literally regurgitate information from the 70s, 80s and 90s. Some that are forward thinking (best one I've come across to date is hermit crab for dummies) are still terribly outdated for today's standards and nothing more than a good timepiece to crabbing during the period of time it was published.

Issue with books, as soon as its published, it pretty much goes out of date. So treat all books as a simple snapshot of crabbing in that timeperiod.

That was a bit of an issue I noticed 😅

That’s a great way to reframe it though! Thanks as always : )

I agree with AussieJJDude. Hermit crab books are truly outdated.

Myllkti, You my want to put actual things your crabs can enjoy on your list, like a tank upgrade (maybe a used tank so it’s cheaper), vines, cool hermit crab safe sticks (like cholla wood), shells, etc. 🤔😋

Maybe someone on HCA should write a book!

I bought "Walking Sideways" by J. Weis some years back. If you're enthused about crabs in general as I am, you may find it a form of crabsummating that relationship. However, there is only a very small portion dedicated to hermit crabs. A quick flip-through seemed to show there were only 3 pages. But I learned that on Bermuda, the land hermit crabs use fossil snails! And hurricanes are important for delivering additional shells to them. To be honest I found the book a bit on the dry side, although it is does explore odd factoids, crabs in popular culture etc. but mostly is a series of research facts about ecology, biology, etc.

Honestly, no point. It will quickly go out of style (information). Nowadays, if you want up to date info, you go online rather than the library.

That's true, didn't think about that! I guess that's why we have HCA!
