Helloooo all,
Ive made a post ab this guy before, but i'm rlly unsure and confused ab him.
So i'm pretty sure hes dead because he went down to molt around April, he resurfaced once then went back down and never moved. At one point his burrow flooded because it was directly under a water bowl (he still didnt move) and I had to move him into a covered plastic iso container with sand to basically surface molt in the main tank. What I assume happened was he was in the middle of molting and in a very weakened state and his flooded burrow may have killed him? He's been in this iso container for many months now, I was hoping maybe he was just deep in his molt and waiting to see if anything happened. But he still has not moved. I assume he is dead but there is absolutley no smell or decay to his body??? I was scared maybe it was his exoskeleton and he was burried elsewhere but I searched the entirety of the old tank and there was nothing. Could somebody explain maybe what happened because im rlly confused. Im not highly educated on molting, this was my first molt with him and im upset it went as poorly as it did and dont want to subject my other crabs to the same fate .
(Im not even sure if it was to molt because he never shed he exoskeleton from what I could see in the tank, he may of just been destressing and passed away. Im just mostly confused by the fact I cant see any decay or smell anything)
Crab hasnt moved in MANY months, but doesnt look dead

Have you tried picking him up to inspect him? A molt won’t take this long even in jumbo crabs
