I got 3 cavs and an indo today!!*more pics* woot woot!
hhahahha yes, after months of looking my petco got cavs, rugs, pp, and indos. Well i went in for 2 cavs and possibly an indo. And well there were 3 cavs and 1 small indo, so i bought 2 cavs and 1 indo, however the cashier, like most at petcos, screwed up and charged me for 1 crab, and so i went and sat in the car and my mom and sister were still somewhere so i sat thinking......theres only 1 cav left, well gee golly willicers, we can't have that he'll be lonely.....thats what i told myself as i marched back in and bought him.
Colors on cavs are so deciving, i thought i was buying a red cav, lo and behold its sooooo plue and beautiful. The indo and one cav are missing a leg. All 4 are currently in a nice iso i whipped upp out of a 10 gallon.
BEWARE: LOADS OF PICS!!!!
Well now to business, the pics!!! Their names are Blake, Shellton, Brutis, and Ike. Brutis is the indo.
PS. I've heard of many lone indos, are they really actually quite solitary, and have y'all ever heard of a micro indo, just curious.
Sizing, mediums i'd say.
Blake and his lovely red antenae
Salt water....yummmmmmm
Brutis the indo
More salt water......
And, you guessed it....more salt water.
Brutis posing, ain't he cute?
Well....decieving no?
V shaped eyes, common trait in cavs
Shellton, I love his shell, he is also missing a leg.
The 10 gallon iso.

HOLY COW....that took forever to load!!!
Woot Woot!! lol Those are beautiful crabs!!! I love Cavs. I hope to find one soon that is that beautiful blue color. That is crazy how it looks red when its in the shell!!! Wow. I had a lone Indo for a month or two....but then she died. I don't know what happened...I'm guessing it was just PPS. They can be "delicate" I hope yours does well!! They are awesome! Congrats!

I have read that they can be more delicate than most crabs....I couldn't find the post that I wanted to show you!! There was a topic where many members of HCA were discussing how their Indos had all died the same way. They were dying in or around the saltwater dish. This was also how mine died. She became very lethargic and would not leave the saltwater dish for days. She was either in it or right next to it. Then, she died. This was the case with most of the Indos. Now, some ppl have kept Indos awhile and they are fine. But we kinda came to the conclusion that Indos may be more delicate than other crabs and may need special conditions (like Straws) to live well. I didn't have my Indo more than a month or two...so it could have been PPS...but other ppl had their Indos longer and they died the same way mine did. So, I dunno what to tell ya. Maybe someone who has had any Indo for awhile and it is still healthy can tell ya what their tank conditions are. My tank was always 75 degrees and my humidity stays between 75-80.

You got some good looking crabbies there! Your purple cavie looks just like my Symon! So darling!
I have had one of my two Indos for a year and a half, sadly hes feeling the wrath of commercial foods, but seems to be doing well. I honestly cant think of anything different that I have done with him versus the other 3 that I have had and have died either due to a molting problem, out of the blue, or by the water dish naked. I guess Spider is just lucky. I do think they are very sensative much like the straws...not quite as hardy in horrible stressful conditions, and the results tend to show up farther down the road. I wish I could give you and idea of something to do different. One thing I do notice with my two remaining ones, is they are pretty "solitary" and they dont like to be picked up by me..but thats probably just them. ???
