Anybody else keep a crabby chart?
Just wondering if I was the geekiest member of the HCA. I started keeping a chart about 6 weeks ago because I have a hard time keeping track of weeks of time. Two weeks ago/two months ago, some times it's very hard to tell.
I just wondered, if you keep a chart, what kinds of stuff do you note?
I just have whose up, whose down and a mark for interesting developments, like a shell change or a new leg.

I have a daily log, if I did not counting on my memory would be a joke. I have a log of molts, a log of foods given and if liked, a log of purchaes and where.........if I did not record everything I could not learn as much about each personality. I even underline their names so if I have to go back and refernce something its easier to read

I have a notebook listing the date I adopted the crab, the ups & downs dates ~ whether they molted or not. And sadly, when they pass.
My problem right now is that 4 of my rugs of same color and size keep changing shells on me! I recognize one of them because she is missing a leg, but sheeeesh, can't tell who the other ones are.

I have the same problem with 3 of my PP's. One I can tell apart because he's the only male ot the three I can't tell apart, but that takes some work to check...lol. The two females aren't even the same size anymore, but they molted at the same time, came up at the same time, and both changed shells right away. I was feeling like a bad hermie Mommy cause I have no idea who's who anymore, but I don't feel bad anymore cause it looks like I'm not the only one (I've read quite a few posts about it since then). The rest I can tell apart.....for now. I'd even stop naming them, but the only two crabs I didn't name right away were the only two I lost, so I'm superstitious now.Xanadu wrote:My problem right now is that 4 of my rugs of same color and size keep changing shells on me! Thats what I have, have had it "running" for about 2 years. I have two different sheets for the crabs, they are made on xcell (im a nerd like that). They are in their own 3-ring binder with a picture I drew on the cover of it, in their own little plastic sheets--so they dont get ripped or dirty. (now yall REALLY see how nerdy I am )ckbythesea wrote:I have a "diary", arranged by crab. Each crab has a section where I keep track of when I got them, from where, species, name, gender, molts, and other significant events or observations.
One has name, sex, date i got them, date of death, store from, location of store, species, # of molts, and a space for other notes. The other, separated by tank, has their name and a space for a date at the top of the column, so I can keep track of who is up and who is down.
Ive made a new chart to keep track of what I feed them.
The charts after a while prove to rather interesting...I compare them to the moon phases and try to find patterns in molting
Im also thinking of keeping track of the weather, barometric pressure, if im running heating on the tanks, and moon phases on another chart.
Bf thinks im a bit excessive LOL!!!
...but for some reason all these charts keep me sane and help me understand them better.

Wow, that is really interesting Narnar!.. I just write down what speices.. try to keep up with when I got them, when they go down.. Not doing too well haha. I need to now though, I can hardly keep up [smilie=faint.gif] It'd be cool if someone made like.... a sheet you could print out, where you could just fill it out every day.. or once a week or something, to help keep track.. I'd use it.

Tweak, I have all my sheets on Xcell...I can email the main ones (2) to you! (and anyone else that wants them) They are simple carts and you can change them around to how you want them or leave them as is.
Send my a pm with your email. I Promise no spam or other garbage.
