Maybe a re-grown limb?

I just realized yesterday that my newest PP might have once lost a limb and re-grown it. I noticed that he's mostly tan (despite his purple pincher), but the bottom half of one of his back legs, starting at the joint, is completely red. I'm just curious...could this have been a re-grown limb? I'd post a picture but he's a bit shy. :crabblush:

I don't think its from a regrown leg, both Anubis and Horus have that, I think its something from the lack of good food. Horus still has his deep red leg, but Anubis lost that colour when he turned the redish brown he is now after his molt.

i agree with Lasuna, it's due to lack of the correct nutrients before his/her last molt but with you now having him/her i'm sure during his/her next molt he'll be a brightly colored PP if not the next molt then the one after :)

the orange tip is a good start, it means he's getting his color back.

It could just be coloration - some crabs are weird looking even after several molts! It often has nothing to do with diet and has more to do with age.

And yes, new limbs and limb parts will often grow in with an odd shade of red and will normally be a bit thinner then the rest. Almost always by the second molt molt it will look completely normal again and you won't even know it was missing!

By chance - is it the leg that's visible around the BP when he curls into the shell? The bottom of their "shield leg" will always be a different color then the rest of them. :)
