Not sure if I'm happy or sad to have found this since I won't be trying to raise the babies. Moose had been acting weird this morning and is hanging way out of her shell. So I checked with a flashlight and found eggs! I tried to get a picture with her still in the tank and the eggs weren't in focus, but you can see they are there. Based on color and everyone else's experience I would guess she will drop them soon.

She moved into a better place in the tank right near the top and was busy swatting at an E so I was able to get a better picture. Had to convince the point and shoot to focus on the eggs and not the crab.

Now I'm starting to think that the social hour that had been happening frequently a while back on the top shelf of the shell shop was, um, very social.
Interesting observation - many have said that the crabs tend to mate when the tank is on the crowded side. In my 90 I have 16 crabs: 8 PPs, 4 Es, and 4 Straws. I guess I wouldn't call that crowded.

Moose dropped her eggs sometime in the last 24 hours...in the fresh water dish. I pulled out the dish to change the water and wow did the smell hit me!
I never planned to try to raise them and knew she'd drop them soon, but it still makes me sort of sad.

I'm not sure. If I do it's probably several years down the line. Next summer will be the year before my son's senior year of high school, so lots of college visits, then the next summer will be getting ready to get him off to college. Maybe after that.
