MITES EWWW
MITES EWWW
ok so I discovered a food mites problem and I found the sorce which was a clean up sandwich baggie I forgot about and it turned into a mite farm, it's gone now and I scooped the ones out the tank but there are a few more, how do I get rid of them and keep them away besides keeping the tank clean and bugs that will eat them, they disgust me but are not hurting the crabs I just don't want them to overrun the tank
Re: MITES EWWW

There is no way to get rid of them - they're in the house all the time, even if you didn't have hermits. They had a population explosion since they had a food source to eat. Now that it's gone they will start to disappear. You can control numbers quicker by cleaning whatever you can with hot water and changing the substrate if it's safe to do so. Feed dry foods and change it as often as possible, moving it to different areas of the tank. You might be able to bait a bunch by putting a slice of banana on the substrate at night and then scooping out the surrounding area and getting it out of the house immediately in the morning.
If you have potted plants, they're in the soil there. Not sure if that will help with any convincing, but the are seriously anywhere it's damp and there's an organic food source.

That will give me nightmares [FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY][FACE WITH MEDICAL MASK] I have a honey trap in there, like the banana, it might work, let's see, I got most out but they do reproduce quickly
