One can take any old word and make it into a secure password.
For instance, the word: password
is hardly secure. But the word: p@5sW0rd
is a lot more secure! If you post here a lot (and most of the long-timers do!

As a general precaution, do not use any of the following as your password. You should not use: the name of your pet(s) (hermit crab or otherwise), the date you got your pet(s), the name of your significant other or your child(ren), your birthday, your significant other or your child(ren)'s birthday. The HCA is a close-knit community and if you use these things you will probably betray your password, if not now then later by accident. The things mentioned are all obvious passwords and are easily hacked by a person who knows how to do a search and sees you bragging about your kids/crabs/pets/significant other. Be vigilant!!
There are occasionally disgruntled former HCA members who try to hack our site and/or members' accounts. You MUST have a secure password to prevent this sort of thing from happening.
If you need any help coming up with a secure password, please let any of the mods know and we will be happy to help.
happy crabbing!
