Have you asked your mom to look at this website? Maybe that would help.

In my opinion, cocofiber (EE) has a stronger odor than playsand. My tank just has a beachy smell. Also, you can look at freecylce.org or at local second-hand stores for a free or cheap used tank. Here's what I spent to get a good 10g set-up, but in Dollars.

10g tank: $10.00 (look for cheap used tanks)
Fitted hood: $10.00 (but you can have it cut at a hardware store for a few bucks)
Playsand: $2.50 for 50 lbs
Hidey huts: $2.50 bought a coconut at grocery store and made my own, and bought a ceramic hut at the Dollar store
2 Water bowls: $1.00 for tupperware type at Dollar store
UTH: $15.00 for 10-20g size (most expensive item)
Temp/humidity guage combo: $6.00 at Walmart, digital even
Spray bottle: $1.00 at Dollar store
Fake plants: $2.00 at Dollar store

So, if you are thrifty, you can get a set-up for a lot less than $150. However, this is listed in American dollars without taxes.

Forest bedding smells gooooood

So does sand, both smell good.

well after a VERY difficult day for me and my pet wants, the stats are good and bad. I'll start with the bad, i wont get a hermit crab for a LONG time, my mom said she would consider if my betta died(2 years old soon

). The good, im a radio controlled car geek, so she said i can my a nitro powered monster truck. So to get a hermie, my fish has to die, but im not going to worry bout that. My fishy will be good for now. Thanks for the help anyways guys! I will stick around here though, just to learn more about them.
