Getting "hairy-er" by the minute

Post by Guest » Tue Jul 01, 2008 5:55 am

I think perhaps its a 3/4 paranoid, 1/4 curiosity, however I know that this group can ease my mind!!... My largest and original crab a PP named "goosa" seems to be growing more and more hair. I didnt miss him moulting, as he is always on the branch (day or night) and is quite active. The hair is blondish, and very fuzzy. He has not moulted yet and its been several months, he is very large, he just hangs out, is very friendly, comes to see me at the side of the tank, is not afraid to come and eat while everyone is watching, etc. seems to be himself, but I wonder why this is happening??? He has really good color, bright eyes, again, nothing strange going on, just hoping he is ok. Is he heading for a moult?

I have found that my larger crabs always look hairy, but more so AFTER a molt. I think it may be harder to tell if they're getting ready to molt because mine are hairy all the time. My last purchase was a jumbo who looked freshly molted except he had lost ends of some limbs. He had one limb growing back but not fully developed. He ate for about 6 weeks, then slowed way down and disappeared about 3 weeks ago.
