Hello!
I read somewhere that hermit crabs store shells (for future use) in the wild, and I can't find where I read it! Has anyone else heard this and can anyone point me to a source?
Thanks so much!

never heard it but it would explain why i'm constantly unburying shells that obviously did not happen to just fall in a hole

Me too! One of my little guys buried a lovely murex in a giant mound that he would sit next to until he finally decided to inhabit it. I know it's true, but I'd still love to find a reliable source that says so.

Mine do the same, especially when the shells were out on the substrate. I haven't had that problem so much now that they have a shower caddy shell shop though.

Me to! When I had my shells on the substrate, I used to freak out because I would find these half buried shells everywhere and thought there were streakers. There never were, but I'm alot happier with the shell shop keeping them in one place ![Razz :P](./images/smilies/icon_razz.gif)
