Is this normal?

Post by Krystal710 » Sun Aug 05, 2012 6:26 pm

I just moved my crabs from a 20L to a 29tall. Exactly the same setup I haven't gotten new stuff yet. Temp and humidity are perfect with the help of a hermit crab heater.
The crabs seem to be actin weird almost coming completely out of their shells. I'm getting nervous because I've had them for a long time and hope they are okay.

Any suggestions?

Moving them will add some level of stress, even if it is the same stuff. That almost sounds like they are hot. Where is your thermometer in relation to your heat (UTH and/or light)?

The heat pad thing is on the left side towards the bottom center, the thermometer is top left corner

I believe the thermometer is best placed in the center a couple inches above the substrate.

Yes, near the substrate is the best place for your gauges so you know the readings at crab level. Of course, if you have a really high tank then it's good to know the readings both at the surface and up higher where the crabs will climb.
