55 gal heat pad issues *ugh!*

Post by nanasue » Fri Jan 02, 2015 3:51 pm

Well, my son is now building his 55 gal tank for his crabbies to have their own home. He has had to build a new divider for the top, and is currently pondering how to create an outside support against bowing. That is not the issue, though. A month or so ago, he bought a pair of Zilla 50-60 gal heat mats. They don't seem to be sticking at ALL. We cleaned the glass, and nada. Any recommended remedies? We're thinking about rubber cement, but not sure if that's a good idea given it's for a crabitat?

How about packing tape or electrical tape? I would say no to the rubber cement since it smells gross and I don't think it would do the job as well.

I use an exo terra heat mat on the corn snake's tank. When it lost it's stick I just taped it on with duck tape. This is also how I attached the Ultratherm to my exoterra/40B crabitat. Working well for me.

The duct tape solution is working out great.
