Hi All! So I am looking for some general info on ways to mount heat lamps. I know there are lamp stands, clamp lamps, and fluorescent bar style lights.
I bring this up because...I've always rested my heat lamp on the top screen of my hermie cage, but I recently ordered an adhesive lamp holder which should arrive soon for mounting the lamp from above. How far from the top of the cage should I mount my lamp? Should it be at an angle if possible?
If you have heat lamps, please expand on your methods of mounting them! For example, if you have a clamp lamp - where do you clamp yours? Pics would be great, too! Also, if anyone has thoughts on wattage vs. distance from the tank. I know most bulbs have a chart for this - but is it accurate for hermie tanks? Please if anyone (and everyone) could shed some light on their methods of lamp mounting! Thanks!

Re: Ways to mount Heat Lamps
With heat lamps it really doesn't matter how you mount it, so long as it's providing enough heat to the tank. The farther away it gets, the stronger the bulb you'll need - and the more it'll heat the space around the tank. If you have a glass lid or are aiming through the side of a glass tank, you do want to keep about 8 inches between the bulb and the glass at a minimum, otherwise the glass will overheat and can shatter or crack. Also, keep it several inches away from the rim of the tank, as the plastic will melt.
