This is probably a really stupid question and I'm pretty sure I know the answer but thought I would ask anyway.
I've set up my 30g tub and everything is good except the heat (humidity is at 92% but I just set the thing up. I'm sure it'll taper off but if not, I can just put more holes in the lid). Heat is at 75 and I can't get it above that with my crappy Zoomed uth, even with it insulated.
At this time, I have to work with what I have. I have literally no money to buy a new ultratherm or extra supplies. And the one I have is massive, as it was used on my 150 gallon tank. It's 11x48. So my question is... Can I put that beast of a uth on my tub and just have the sides hanging off? Or is that dangerous?
And if the answer is no, I can't use it... Will they be okay hovering at 75 for a little while?

Re: Question about ultratherms
PPs do fine at 75 degrees, but they'll be more active around 80. Not sure what species you have.
You could certainly use the big pad, but you have to be careful that whatever hangs over the edge doesn't get bent. That'll be the only risk - since if it gets bent the wires inside can snap and the entire thing will be broken.

They're pp's. If they'll be fine at 75 then I'll just leave it for now. I'm not sure how I'd keep that long thing from bending!
