Advice on mixing sand into tat

Post by Tarn » Thu May 07, 2015 2:16 am

Hi everyone,

I have been told that I need to mix some sand into my substrate. What type of sand should I get and can you suggest how to go about mixing it in. I have one little crab down moulting.

Thanks
Tarn

What kind of substrate are you using now? It may not be possible to mix it in until your molter comes up.

Hi, I just have Coir in there. What if I put the sand on top and let the crabbies work it through as they are digging around?

That would be fine. Just be sure to slowly add it a little at a time so you don't accidentally collapse any tunnels. Your crabs will mix it up eventually or once their all up you can just give it a good mix. Make sure you pick up play sand, not any calcium-type sand.
