What's the white fuzz

Post by DarthKrab » Fri Feb 19, 2016 5:29 pm

And how do I get rid of/prevent this white fuzz and what is it? Is it harmful to my crabs?

I havent. I just set this tank up last Sunday ):
It was on the outside of the food dish luckily not touching the food

Clean out your food dish especially. You shouldn't leave food in there for more than a day. Moisture + food = mold.
You've got it all wrong....we are the pets, not them!

Crabs eat molding and rotting food in the wild and they often enjoy food that has been in the tank for a few days or is particularly ripe. Mold isn't harmful but if it bugs you just remove the moldy food.

Do you leave mold in your tank at all?

Well thank you so much! I'm actually really happy to hear that they enjoy this because I was worried I was going to have to replace EVERYTHING and clean the huge tank again and plus I LOVE giving them everything I possibly can to make them happy. Image Image Image

Hey, Soilentgringa...
what about fermented fruit or grain? Is there any knowledge of how fermented foods affect crustaceans that you've come across?

Not specifically but it would be interesting to look into.
