I checked the thermometer. It's good, my room is only 65F so the insulation IS doing something, just not enough, haha.
I have it glass>foil>foam on three sides and one lid.

Ok yea 65 is low in my exp the Ultratherm seems to run hotter and probably work more efficiently than the petstore heaters (Zoomed, in my past case). When i looked at my Zoomed the adhesive woukd be really inconsistently adhered to the glass, and also a lot of bubbling was apparent. The Ultratherm is really thin and firm, like a sheet of thin plastic, so it lays nice and flush against the glass. The heating element is also closer to the glass, where the Zoomed looked insulated several times over (which is good because they're usually used under tanks, so its probably like this for safety).
My plug for Ultratherm might not be helpful to your situation, but if you notice temps dangerously low, well, ya know

I love my ultratherm! I have a 11x48 on my 55 gallon and it consistently keeps the heat 80-84F without any insulation. When I had it insulated I got up to almost 90F!

! My UTH is (from bean farm) doesn't have adhesive which I liked because I don't feel like I'll destroy it when I move it. I just taped it down and foiled and cardborded it (those are real words I swear)

I got my uth from the bean farm- it doesn't have the sticky stuff of the back which I like because I feel like I can adjust it if I need to- or move it to another tank when I upgrade ;) . It was so powerful that I needed to buy a dimmer lol.

I'm on my phone right now and can't find the link via tapatalk so bear with me cause I'm doing this from memory Image if you look on the left of your page there's a short little list of links. At the bottom is shopping resources. If you click into that it'll lead you to a list of all types of online vendors. The ultratherms are sold by two of the companies (I think reptile city or something like that and bean farm). I got mine from the bean farm and they were great. It arrived on time in great condition. I think the prices for both places is relatively the same. If you're look for a "top shelf" UTH you're looking in the right place Image

I bought mine directly from ultratherm.

I was able to find one vendore that seems like one of the aforementioned ones here. Do you think that would be a good supplement for my 55g?

What are the dimensions of your tank? My tank is also a 55g and its 48 inches long. If yours is the same the ultratherm will only cover half of your tank.
