Also re: the ponytail palm; I had a very small one in the 55g for a while, it is one of the plants that lasted some time, but eventually browned out and died. So if you can find one small enough to fit in your tank, it might work-- but (at least in my one experience of them) it was not as happy for as long as the pothos, which was enthusiastic about living in the crabitat. I had it in the middle of the 55g; if I find another small one, I might try again in the 90g, putting it clear over on the jungle side near the fresh water source, as far as possible from the MSW source; that might help (since I think it may have been too much "salt air" that eventually led to its demise).

For people looking to use pothos vine, if you have a friend willing to give you a clipping it will develop roots if the stem is submerged. I'm doing research to set up my first crabitat. I have many planted aquariums and house plants, but hermit crabs are new to me. I'm thinking of using a suction shower cup to hold a pothos up on the tank side. I'm going to have a braided cotton rope going down into the freshwater reservoir, to wick water up to the plant to keep it watered. I think this will also raise the humidity in the tank.

That's an interesting idea. Let us know how it works. (Photos, if you can!) I think we'd end up with a moldy rope, here--but maybe not everybody has the mold issues like we do if we're not careful.
