If you have bubbler pools it won't matter, because that pumps fresh air in, otherwise, it's debatable, honestly I've had my bubbler pools longer than my versa tops, so I can't offer much advice there.

Gotcha i don't have bubblers set up as i was waiting for a bigger tank i really just want for now to get this thing on and put some holes for air
