i also noticed one more thing it looks as though theres no eco-earth mixed witrh your sand you should pick some of that up too and add
that too the sand, other wise its going to be too dry. and its hard to tell in the pics to you have enough natural shells to size for them to change too?
its very important you give them options to get out of those painted shells their poisonous to the crabs the paint comes off and they eat it and its very bad for them,...so these things are important.

It is mixed in, I added it when I put the sand in last night and I spray the tank right now until I can cover the top with plexiglass and get the ultratherm. There are 3 shells per crab in there now. But, I need to get bigger shells for Biggie Smalls, he's pretty big

you can cover the mesh lid with surran wrap for now (cover almost all of it just leave a little bit open for air) until you get a glass lid.
i would do that as soon as you can as humidity is very important.

I'll do that now. So when should I have the red light on? Because I know I cannot have it on top of the Saran Wrap...ugh!! I wish I didn't buy the light...now I'm biting my nails until I get the ultratherm. Who should I ask to find out what size I need to order?

What is the temp where is your location here in nj in summer my tank is a steady 80 to 85 degrees honestly i haven't had to use a heater all summer if it's hot like here and your gauge says it's between 75 and 85 there should be no reason to use the heating now anyway did you get a gauge to check that ?

Meh!! The humidity is 92 and the temp is 73. But I did just spray the inside of the tank. Do you think I can turn off the heat lamp and cover with Saran Wrap? I'm sure the humidity will balance out. I just put the gauge in there about 45 min ago

what is the weather inside your house is it free from drafs and cold air? i would say if you house or area is warm
i tthink it should be ok. wait a little bit and see if it goes up if so you should be fine. not sure on your location but
its been hot all summer the tank has never dripped below 80 all summer for me. and yes the surran wrap will boost
your humidity. .

I'm right outside of philly. Our house has central air but I do have them against an inside wall, to protect from the cold in the winter. I will watch the temp and hopefully all will be ok

oh well im in new brunswick nj (and used to live in philly)
my tank is 85 right now with out anything in the next room to the a/c
and im 45 minutes from you. I'm pretty sure you should be able to get away
with the ambient temps being high enough at this time of year i dont think the weather
/temp is gonna vary that much 45 mins away.

just make sure (hard to tell if its on the wall or on the gauge
to make sure you dont mist the gauge. if you need to spray
around it cover it with a bag or something because it will ruin
if you get water on it.

yeah try not to do that. maybe explain to her (not sure how old your kid is ) but try to explain
you can ruin it and it will make the crabs sick if it doesn't work because it wont be able to tell
if the air is wet enough and they wont be able to breathe. something like that but dont let her
spray it you def dont wanna ruin it or cause it to read improperly.
