If you notice it starts to become too cold you can also consider insulating the sides of the glass, and/or adding more layers to the back. You could even cover the tank with a blanket while you are away if you are concerned about it being too cold. Like stated above, heat lamps with glass tanks can be tricky.

Yeah that's my issue is the glass lid with a lamp. I'm thinking of buying a warm quilt to place over the tank when I'm not home. I'm keeping a space heater going in the room.the tank is in when I'm home and it is keeping it at good temps with both uth going. Once the landlord turns on the heat our apartment gets to be around 80 degrees in the winter in the mornings so i think between everything it should be ok but I'm just trying to stay prepared.Rawrgeous wrote:If you notice it starts to become too cold you can also consider insulating the sides of the glass, and/or adding more layers to the back. If i insulate what's already insulated with more layers will that actually help boost the heat of the ultra therms ?Rawrgeous wrote:If you notice it starts to become too cold you can also consider insulating the sides of the glass, and/or adding more layers to the back.
