I'm interested in getting a humidifier for my crabitat.

Does anyone have any suggestions on which ones are the best?

Thanks!

Crane tear-drop humidifier
That's exactly what I have, I had to figure something out last spring since in the summer we go camping every weekend and this did the trick...

Here are a few pics

I was still setting up my tank at this point so the pools aren't in yet and I did a few adjustments after this was taken, but you can see in the left corner the moss pit filling up with mist and mist going down the front (sorry for the blurriness)

Here is Monkey enjoying a misty shower in the moss pit. The hose is right above the moss pit so it can catch the dripping water drops without saturating my sub

Here is our newest member at ground level, you can see that the mist makes it all the way to the bottom of the tank

Here is the humidifyer, it is important to tape the top section to the water tank or else the hose applies too much pressure and it won't stay on. Another thing that's really important, the hose has to go strait up then strait down into your tank or else it will get clogged with water and you won't get any mist.

Hope this helps. I did a lot of research before buying this one and have absolutely no regrets!! You can adjust the flow, water will last you a while it you need to go away, a timer or a humistat will take care of it. I use regular tap water with dechlorinator in it. When it comes time to clean it, I use warm water, vinager and I add a sheet of paper towel and "swish" the container around a bit. The paper towel kinda rubs the sides and it comes out clean and smelling fresh. I then rince it really good and quite a few times to remove vinager then add fresh tap water, dechlorinator and it all set to go again.

I did the exact same thing you did with that humidifier with the hose, but maybe a little bit of a skinnier hose :) Great minds think alike!

I have a Crane humidifier too, with a tube running to my tank. Love it and highly recommend it!

Thank you, it's come a long way since we started crabbing, from purple calci-sand to proper sub and so on ...

For those who are using the crane humidifier for your tanks, what size hose did you need? I have the standard airline tubing for my bubblers, would this work?

I almost bought a repti fogger tonight, ordered online from PetSmart during a sale and when I went to pick it up in store there was a mix up and they didn't have it in stock. But I've seen this come up a lot on here and might just order one of these from Amazon instead.

The opening is bigger than standard airline tubing. I went to Lowe's and got a few feet of clear vinyl tubing in the plumbing department - it's 1/2" inner diameter, 3/8" outer. It fits snugly and won't pull out, plus it wasn't expensive at all.

Thanks all for posting this! I have a converted room humidifier (not nice looking like these...) that's on the fritz and now I know what the replacement will be if it comes to it. :)

Anybody that have tried to put a fan inside the tank, just adding airflow over something that is kept wet/moist? That would in theory be quite effective. (don't ask me how to make a spinning death-machine crab-safe tho!)
