I saw some surface mold in my crabitat
I need to clean it up and put the proper 5:1 playsand:ee substrate in it but I'm trying to wait for the 3 molters I have thats down under. How dangerous is the mold to them? I'm scrapping the surface mold off but I'm worried about the 3 thats under.

If it's surface mold it probably just old food dragged around by the crabs! As long as you get rid of all the mold on top the millers will be just fine! Don't worry this happens to everyone!

Try to get down a good inch under the mold and around it. Look for food that is around. Check it every day, look under decorations, food & water dishes, mold will appear any where. Keep a good air supply going . I hD so much trouble with my e.e. molding after about 2 weeks I chucked it and got sand. How long have you crabs been down? I think as long as they're down they should be fine..

Mold happens.
Just pull it out and keep going.
Eventually the tank finds a happy equilibrium. I hate doing heavy cleans because the mold gets bad for about a month before it settles back down.

@Laurie LeAnn they have been down for about 5 days only. I have the sand now to do the 5:1 mix everyone is always talking about. Just have to wait it out and do what you guys say just keep scooping the spots out.

Might try misting with some salt water..just a light mist..salt is supposed to help control it. I think I'm going to be a sand person from now on..I have less trouble..my son calls mold teddy bears..he's 29 has a since of humor..good luck with your teddy bears!!
