I have seen some people using air plants in their crabitat and I was wondering if those were safe, btw, do live plants in the crabitat have to be organic?

There are several different species that go by air plants - the classic one is tilandsia, a type of bromeliad, and these are okay to use. Keep in mind that most crabs will tear apart anything alive you put in there, so it's not going to last for long. Anything going in needs to be free of pesticides and fertilizers - new plants from the store should be repotted with safe soil and quarantined for around three months with frequent showers to wash away any residual chemicals. (This is what frog keepers do to keep from poisoning their amphibians, the same should hold true for hermits.)
