Substrate in a 20 gallon long

Post by Krusty2015 » Mon Dec 28, 2015 12:47 pm

I am going to be setting up my new tank this week hopefully before the new year and I was wondering how much substrate I would need? I will have 2 crabs in the new tank. I have 3 bricks of ee for it right now.

I'm curious about this, too. I need to look at the weight of an EE/playsand combo and ponder new, sturdier furniture options.

Figure it this way - one block of EE will give you around 1 gallon filled space. One 50lb bag of sand is approximately 4 gallons.

For a 20 gallon long tank you want it at least half full (6 inches) so that means 10 gallons of substrate. :)

Thank you! I discovered I still had 2 other blocks so now I have 5 blocks.
