when I went to change tanks - the one that was buried ( the one I was not sure if it was dead or alive ) was on top of the substrate -- SO it is now in the new tank with all the others
guess she just needed friends!!!
but now a problem.... I bought a top for the new crabitat --- so how do I get the tubing from the air hoses to the water dishes?

Glad she is okay.
There should be an area on the the cover which allows for poking out pre-made tabs on the top for tubing and such. Do you see anything like that?

Great news about your little crab
!
Plastic aquarium lids come with cutouts for tubing and hinged glass lids have a heavy plastic strip at the back that allows you to cut out a notch for the tubing. For a
mesh lid, you can cut out a small square in one rear corner with an Exacto knife, craft scissors or tin snips, just large enough to accommodate a length of airtubing.

maybe I will see if I can squeeze it through --- but I used a splitter to check air stones (in a tank) and only one *bubbles* the other seems to try - but does not get enough air....???

Do you have check valves?
Air (and water) take the path of least resistance. A check valve is used to ensure both airlines are getting equal/similar pressure, I'd look into one. Your local pet store should have one for a few bucks.
