Is there a way to relocate a UTH?

Post by DarthKrab » Thu Feb 18, 2016 9:40 am

Just in case I need to switch things up, is there a way for me to take off my UTH and re-apply it somewhere else? I feel like this would ruin the adhesive but something tells me that my newbie experience will learn how to further improve my crabitat and I would like to be prepared (:

Thanks for all and any help on the subject

There's a high chance of the thin wires inside being damaged, which can break the pad or cause it to short out. (Fire risk.) They really aren't supposed to be moved.

That said, there are people who have moved them, and you just use tape to hold it on. I'm using two right now that were removed. It works easier when the pad is hot, and it shouldn't be bent, so a spatula works well for getting between the adhesive and glass.

Thanks! I have a backup just in case but I hope I don't have to break it out.

Got them for 17 bucks on amazon instead of 40 at my local pet store.. SCORE

ive relocated my small zoomed I dont use much anymore multiple times just using a plastic spatula to get it off the tank. If its giving resistance, heat it up with a blow dryer.

Dang. I've just peeled and restuck mine several times by just ripping them off and re-attaching with duct tape. I've also had one bent around a corner of a tank for like 3 years! oops...
