HCA: Hermit Crab Association

Hi guys! I'm pretty new to crabbing and want to know if this setup looks okay for my 2 babies:


30 gallon tank (36"L x 18"W x 12"H) with 7 inches of substrate (Eco Earth coconut fiber).

The crabs are inhabiting the two shells on the far left

Hi! That looks great! my only questions are do you have fresh AND salt water and You might want to put a few more shells in, but i think it looks good. Also, how deep is your substrate, i cant realy tell. Where did you get your water dish?

Yes, there is fresh and salt water (instant ocean). There's a Plexiglas divider that I installed in the water dish using aquarium silicone. The substrate is 7inches deep. As for the shells, I had more in the enclosure, but they're way too big for either crab. All shells pictured are for my smaller crab. I actually received more of the correct size for my bigger crab today and have since put them in

I actually picked up the water dish for my black rat snake, but I ended up using something else for her. It's just been collecting dust for a year or so. I just got my crabs this past Christmas and decided to fix it up for them. I got it at the local pet store in the reptile dept... It's a Zoo Med "Repti Rock." they come in 3 or 4 sizes, of which mine is the biggest. It measures a foot long on both straight edges.

I think it looks great! I'm sure your babies will love it! I need you to come and fix mine up to look that good!
