For the ultratherm heat pad, one side has copper strips visible, the other doesn't. Which side should face the habitat?

thank you

It's been so long since I put mine on the tank, I had to go over and look. Peering through the tank and the fish netting on the back wall, I see no copper strips facing in so I'd say copper to the outside. Mine has been set up as described and has worked perfectly, no complaints.

From what I've read in the past they can be applied in either direction. I have mine with the copper strips facing outside (i.e. Not visible in the tank) and they are working fine.

If you have an Ultratherm, you place the side with the flattest part of the small white piece that attaches the electrical cord to the flat piece facing the tank.

Thank you for the replies. The instructions didn't specify. I kind of rationalized the way soilentgringa (love the handle btw) said, but wanted to be sure.

So which orientation does that turn out to be? I never noticed a flatter side when I placed mine and now I can't really see them all that well since they are mounted behind insulation.
