New 20 Gallon Long tank
It has been a while since I last posted on this forum, and I figured I could give everyone an update on my hermies!
Two years ago, at a beach boardwalk, I rescued two PPs from a souvenir shop.One crab was named Taz, who was smaller in size, and the other crab was named Bruce. Unfortunately, two weeks after rescuing them, Bruce passed away. I purchased a new crab a few days after Bruce passed, his name is Gatsby. My crabs lived in a 10 gallon tank, with two huts, two water bowls, and ecoearth/sand substrate. Up until a few days ago, my crabs remained in this crabitat. While living in this tank, my crabs were barely active, and were always hidden in their huts. Recently, this Monday actually, I rescued another crab from the boardwalk, and he is still live and well. This crab LOVED to climb, therefore I named him Peter, like Peter Parker (Spiderman )
Over three days, I purchased items for my new 20 Gallon tank! I purchased things such as fake foliage, new substrate, etc. Ever since i placed my crabs in this new setup, they have been extremely active. Here are some photos of the new crabitat!
This is the tank from the outside
I made this ramp from sticks and hot glue, which leads to a hammock.
Now they have deep bowls of water and freshwater!!
I actually made this hut with hot and sticks from my yard. The crabs love it
My crabbies absolutely adore this tank! I am very happy that they can live in a good home.

Re: New 20 Gallon Long tank
Your tank looks beautiful! What do you have on the top of your tank to keep the humidity in? It kind of looks like a piece of carpet padding. If so, I'm not sure that would be good, I think that stuff has chemicals. Congrats on your new crabs!
Truly blessed to have incredible creatures, wonderful friends and my amazing family in my life!! I'm very thankful & grateful for all of them! www.thehealthyhermit.com

@GotButterflies
I found on YouTube that a way to keep in humidity would be to use duct tape. I figured it was affordable, and gave it a try! The tape does a very good job at keeping in humidity, and keeps the tank about 87%!! Thank you so much for the compliment

Looks really nice! Just one caveat about hot glue: it won't hold up very long under crabitat conditions -- too humid.

@TazandBruce3 aha! I see how it can be duct tape now! Neat idea! Thanks for sharing your tank! (sorry-just realized autocorrect changed your name before!)

@crabinski
Let's hope it holds up well enough before I have to resort to super glue!

Hot glue is just melted plastic, humidity should have no effect on it.Crabinski wrote:Looks really nice! Just one caveat about hot glue: it won't hold up very long under crabitat conditions -- too humid.
Re: New 20 Gallon Long tank
Hot glue does lose hold in humidity. Speaking from personal experience. I made a super nice thing with driftwood and shells for them to eat out of (it had several shells for different foods. I was really proud of myself) it lasted a week before it came apart.
