Thinking about moving my crabitat

I am thinking of relocating my crabitat to the living room, however it is a high traffic area because we do most of our living in there. I am also concerned because there will be a lot let day/night cycle maintained in that room.
Will hermit crabs do OK in a living room? Mine are quite skittish. Do they adjust to a noisier (TV, kids etc.) environment?

My crabs lived in our living room for about a month or two when we first had them, but when I had the space they moved into my bedroom. I think if you have an area your hermies can live that's quite and low traffic, that's best.

They are doing well in my classroom with an average of 25 8th Graders, 4-6 times a day. They do get a great night cycle, though, since everyone is gone by 5:00...

Mine are in a high traffic area and I'd say because of that they don't flee at the sight of me! Everyone is different though.

I keep mine in my living room, but with that in mind I also only have 2 people living in my house. My fiance and I aren't that noisy, and we are mostly nocturnal. My crabs are pretty used to my presence though, and usually only flee if I approach suddenly. My colony seems fine. I think the household itself would decide on whether it was a good idea or not, but as far as I can tell it's had no negative effect.

I have mine in my dining room, but we also have 7 people, 3 dogs, and a cat living in the house. Mine aren't very active during the day anyways, but one is becoming more okay with activity outside of the tank. I'm wondering if I could get one of those plastic aquarium backgrounds and cut it down so it fits on the sides of the tank, so the crabs can only see movement directly in front of the tank.
