I've eaten some of those vanila flavoured hermit crab cookies, and I'll have you know, they do NOT taste like vanilla cookies... more like cardboard flavoured cookies...
Yeah, call me loco, but I have tried the hermit crab cookies... Hey, I don't want to feed my hermits anything I wouldn't eat!
That was like... a year and a half ago, just wanted to try them because it sounded cute. Than I got it home and tried one, looked at the ingredient lable, and it said Ethoxyquin.
So I ingested ethoxyquin. Although, that could explain the brain-cell loss I've gotton since than....

I tried the dog food I bought for my mice. Not something I'd want to eat every day, but definitely better than other dog food I've eaten The mice and jirds liked it fine, though.
I used to eat those yoghurt drops for hamsters. And with hindsight: better me than my hamsters - that stuff is nothing but sugar.

Let's found the AAFT - Anonymous Animal Food Tasters.
Hi, I'm Jennifer and I've eaten or sampled dry dog and cat food and treats, hamster treats, chew sticks for birds and hamsters, fish flakes, bunnie treats (okay, it was carob and so not a food strictly for animals), various crab foods, crickets and locusts (in chocolate/fried) and every time I happen to feed a dog wet food, I'm tempted to lick off the spoon.

LOL I've actually liked rabbit and hamster food! Or I did years ago when I tried it. I craved dog biscuits like mad when I was pregnant with a couple of my kids. Probably luckily for me, we didn't have any dogs at those times. The crabs don't seem to like their dried unsweetened coconut, so I've been chewing on it.
Layne, my mom says I used to eat grass when I was 2 or 3, and when she'd tell me to stop, I'd say, "Cows eat grass!" There was also this other stuff we used to eat as kids, it grew like weeds in one of our flowerbeds. It looked like tall (1') 3-leaf clover, and tasted kind of tart/juicy. I wonder what it was? I'm sure it could be used in a salad though, it was pretty good. Thinking back, when we were kids we never thought about washing it first. We'd just "graze." LOL I hope no cats ever used that spot as a litter box. Ew!

I think some canned dog food looks and smells really good, but I have never been brave enough to try it. My dad has eaten dog jerky, and my son likes the yogurt treats that are supposed to be fed to our rats. I used to eat the cat food to try to get the cat to eat when I was little. I also worked with someone at Petsmart that would try the burger shaped dog treats. I think he even ate the dry biscuits too.

HA! When i worked at a boarding kennel, i used to be in charge of feeding the dogs, now alot of dogs ate people food, chicken, whipped cream, cheese, cherios, and of course i nibbled on that. BUt i must say that we used to have fun tasting different dog treats, Beggin' Strips remind me of old bubble gum! LOL. Dried liver was interesting, Pedigree is ok. But i must say that everything may smell like porkchops, or beaf, or chicken, but is in no way simaler to the real thing.
I also tried fish food flakes, and my cats dry food. I draw the line at all wet food, but like Jedidiah i have been very tempted to lick the spoon once or twice.
I have yet to taste my hermies foods, well other then the dinner left overs of course, but i have licked cuttle bone and the aquarium salt, to see if what they tasted like.
