Should there be a DIY section in the forum? Would you contribute to it?

Count my yes vote in!! :) I could contribute how to build Cocohuts. I took pictures of the last ones I built that could document the process well. Also, I'll be building a tank lid from scratch really soon with different types of lighting that simulate their natural environment better (night and day), as well as something for air circulation. This is what happens when your dad is an engineer. LOL

GREAT poll. I added another option for those of you who are unsure. Thanks for asking the question. :)

I would like such a forum and I would definatly contribute if I had any knowledge (now or in the future) that I thought others could try out.

I have several DIY projects (I'm the one that made the humidifier that inspired bundy). I would like to share them all. I think that section would be larger than anyone thinks. With everyone having thier own way to make 2nd levels and what not.

Someone could post some knit or crochet directons to make hemp shelfs... I bought a hemp shelf but for someone who can knit or crochet it looks like it would be really easy.

My vote is "unsure"

I could possibly contribute directions on how to knit a hemp shelf. I'm a knitter myself. I've been toying with the idea of knitting one ever since I saw your post the other day about it. I've already got hemp from making necklaces and bracelets and such. I'd just have to figure out what kind of needles would be best.

One thing I noticed was when it was dry it I thought it had way to big of holes... but once I wet it the hemp fattened up and it looks good. So just don't go too small on your needle. What it is that I bought is a triangle and then a 2" wide and 7" long rectangle for the ladder... you then use some hemp cord/yarn (what ever it is called) to tie the ladder onto the triangle where ever you need it. then 3 suction cups to poke through the net and hang it.

So far my little Es love it.

Yea, I remember you saying that in the other thread about the holes. I'm generally thinking a medium sized needle, around a 6 or 8, would work perfectly for that. I think the one you got on eBay was actually chocheted by the look of the stitching. It was hard to tell though by the picture. Using a garter knit stitch would create a tighter surface that was bumpy instead of leaving holes.

Thanks for those measurements! They will come in handy when I start playing around with it! :)

ALHC, yep. Feathers bought one off of eBay to use as a moss pit. Here is a link to what she got:
