New hermie!

Post by Guest » Thu Jun 29, 2006 11:50 pm

I finally got my new hermie today! (Now I have 3) I've been planning this for about a month now, and I finally made the sand deeper, added a 2nd level, and just did it! Her name's Georgia and she has such pretty red colors on her legs. She gets along great with my current PP, Tillie. Tillie already follows Georgy all over the tank. I got her from Petco, because that's where Tillie came from and she's active and healthy, as far as I can tell. I'll try to post a picture tomorrow morning. :D

Beutiful little PP you have their, I live in GA :) Sounds like you have really made some good changes to the 'tat, what kind of sand do you use?

Thanks everyone! I actually have a few different kinds of sand...I think there's some calcisand somewhere in there, but the deep part is playsand. Then there's an approx 1/2 inch layer of "hermit crab sand" over all of the other sand that's very small-grained and soaks up water well. I think there might be some coco-fiber pieces buried somewhere as well...it used to line the bottom, but it fell apart during the first deep clean.

awww, a very cute crab! PP's are probably my favorite species. Lovely name as well, but then again i guess i'm just partial to state names.
