Please read this and post after you have read it, so that we know you have read it! Thanks!

Hi all! Sorry I havent gotten to update and post this earlier...Ive had a very hectic and busy week. Here is the process:

1. We are going to assign (have you volunteer) for one forum (which you already have done) and you will be incharge of archiving for that specific forum.

2. The admins (Mac & Nar) will be moving topics in the UNLOCKED form into your archiving forum.

3. You will then be responsible for dechattering threads to save and for moving those that arent going to be saved to the Deletables forum. Please LOCK the threads in your forum when you have finished dechattering them. Those that are going to the Deletables do not need to be locked or dechattered.

(Types of threads that should go to the Deletables forum are those that are common, can be found in the Archives already, can be found in the FAQs, or do not have any information in them--for example the threads where people get new crabs and eveyone is saying "congrats" and things like that)

***Do not deleted posts! Only delete the chatter in the posts. Chatter is considered information that does not have to do with the topic(s) in the post.

4. Topics will be moved into the archive forums once a month. If you get behind no worries, just let me know and I can find someone to help you out.

Here are the forums and their archivers. The colors dont have meaning, its just easier to see names when they are in color.:

Archived Activism--ALHC, Birdie
Archived New Crab Owners--Sheb
Archived Emergency--RICrabowner
Archived Crabitat Conditions--Cransln
Archived Crab Behavior--Mac&Hunter
Archived Food and Water--JeffCrab, KitKat
Archived Molting; Archived Parasites--Narnar
Archived Shells--BAB
Archived Species Specifics--Narnar

I am going to take the Misc, just b/c a lot of what goes into the Misc can be put other places, the Deletables, and the forums that were Mikes for now.

The Emergency forum will be created shortly and I or Mac will be helping RICrabowner get that beast tamed b/c it will be a new archive forum and will have lots of stuff at first.

Our ACT as of 8/15/06--Narnar, MacandHunter, ALHC, Birdie, RICrabowner, Cranlsn, JeffCrab, KitKat, BAB

Let me know if I have forgot anything!

Thanks for all your help and bearing with us as we get a new process going!

~Aaryn

I will be making a new post on how to move and dechatter posts in a bit, no worries!

Hi everyone.

Thank you for your help in this process. I'm going to be posting a guide to archiving, so if you wanted to wait for it so you know you are doing the right thing that might be a good idea. I'll have it up and posted Thursday morning. It will be Pictorial.

Yes please wait to get started until Macs guide is up...it will make the process much easier and will answer lots of questions about how to move posts and such.

Thanks for being patient with us!

I'll wait, too. There's nothing to archive yet, anyway.

EDIT: There is some stuff at the one I'm supposed to do. I looked at the wrong one, lol. I'll still wait.

Hi guys.

I'll have the guide up today. I just need to get a reply back from Nar about a PM. Since I work in the ACT, I do it a little differently since I have more "powers" then you. So maybe you all can help... what different powers do you seem to have for your archiving section? I just want to confirm what you can and can not do because they are different then what I can do as a board member.

Thanks!

Edit: Ok, I got what I need, I'll go make the guide now.

I have read this and I will wait for the tutorial. I am ready and waiting to go. If I have any questions, which I probably will at first, I will not hesitate to ask.

ok so I have gone thru the archives and changed them so that they fit our archiving format...we were kind of doing it willynilly last time.

If you look in your archive and you see posts that are open, you can begin archiving. Many of the archives have not been worked in for a while or have never been worked in so they need what is unlocked worked on first before we start moving in more topics.

SO! If you have unlocked posts in your archive forum you may begin archiving....assuming you have read Macs tutorial and the bit I added about how to move posts!! Please Please read that before you begin.

I will try and get stuff moved into the Shells forum and the other forums that do not have any open posts.

OH, also if you have more than 2 pages of open posts, I (or mac if hes got a chance) will be helping you get things knocked out...I know some of the forums have Pages upon Pages of stuff that needs to be looked thru.

The Powers for me at the end of the page does not show up for me, they do however show up for me in the archive fourm, is this normal?
