When you give egg shells to your hermit crabs, is it necessary to remove that film layer on the inside of the egg shell??? Is there an easy was to remove it??

I always leave the film layer on. I don't think there's any harm to it.

I put them in for around five or ten minutes. I don't like to let the edges get brown.

Why do you cook them?

Egg shells are normally cooked just to remove any bacteria and get them a little more crisp. I don't think it's necessary to cook egg shells, unless you are planning to store them in a container for a little while. A good rinse can be executed if they are being used for a dish (one night).
