HCA: Hermit Crab Association

So I got up to turn on the daylight bulb, and who do I find climbing on a cocofiber climbing wall? One Eye.

Now, the question was, will he regrow his eye when he molts? The answer....

He has a very very small black shiny eye on the previously empty stalk! Way to go big guy! (his pincher is huge...little afraid of him actually)

so I ended up taking him out anyways and tried to get pictures...apparently he wants to keep his new mini eye all to himself... couldn't get a single picture with it showing. Also most are blurry. Will try again later.

That's awesome! I've never had a crab missing an eye so I've never seen one get regenerated, but I just think it's so amazing every time I hear about it on here.

Man, what can't the little guys do? I mean, I heard of crabs fixing an eye, but not regrowing one from just a stump! The little things are just amazing.

a friend of mine has a crab with one shorter eye than the other (we adopt a lot of misfit animals) he can't judge size very well and often picks a shell way to small for himself. LOL I want to see photos too, it's amazing what nature does to survive.

Latest update on attempts to get pictures...still no luck. when I get the camera close enough to catch the eye the pic comes out so blurred you can't see anything. Also he has now gone under the coco fiber to hide >.<
