My hermits are crazy

Right when I got my first E he escaped. Then a year or so ago he escaped again and my cat brought him to me (my cat fetches, so she figured it was a toy) but don't worry he survived. Then just the other day I walk into my room and see a hermit crab crawling out of the smallest space that cracked in my lid. I caught him and put him back in. The next morning I walk out of my room and laying next to my two cats is a shell... I pick up the shell and it was a hermit crab! I can't figure out way a hermit crab would want to come out of their warm humid tank and explore a house that is freezing(to them) and not humid at all.....
Is there something I can add to their tank to make them not want to escape?

:hlol: They are curious little creatures.

Mine seem to enjoy their tank, but that doesn't stop them from trying to find a way out every now and then. Besides, each one has a different personality and I think you may just have a little Houdini on your hands.

My suggestion is to find something to hold the lid down or he's gonna keep escaping.:

So cute! I can't think of many ways, he seems pretty agile. Maybe he needs a beaker. Or a motion detector lolz :D

I suggest you get some tank clips. I like these: http://www.amazon.com/Aquarium-Tank-Sec ... 462&sr=8-2 They also come in a larger size for bigger tanks.
