Hi, Do you think it would be bad idea to get an ecuadorian crab for our 10 gallon tank if we already have 2 purple pinchers? Or should we have another of the same species to keep it company?

I'd get a second one, E's prefer having species buddies. My own Geb is getting listless because his buddy died a few weeks ago.

My E's do hang out in packs for sure.

It is always recommended to have a species buddy. The problem with getting an E is that you should then get 2 and 4 crabs in a 10 gallon when 2 of them are Es is probably a bit crowded. You could add another PP and have 3. The problem with the Es in a smaller space is that they dig a whole lot more than PPs, just for fun, and you run a higher chance them in the small tank having an E run across a molter. If you want to add a couple of Es I recommend that you upgrade to a larger tank.

Species buddies are always good but not for a ten gallon. You'd have to upgrade first.
