It looks fine. I've been doing some heavy research on these natural fibers. Jute is safe. You might smell it to see if you can detect any chemical odor. If it seems earthy, then you're probably fine. It costs money to treat natural fibers, so the cheaper, more raw forms are generally more safe. If you find something called sisal, jute, or hemp that is soft as silk, then yeah, be suspicious. 1ply probably has less risk than 3 ply. You get the idea. Cotton twine is also safe, but prone to mold and deteriorating as mentioned above. Getting this stuff "certified organic" is not really an option from what I'm finding, so you have to be judicious without being paranoid.
