Nice enclosure agentcrabby! I have some dowels covered in like a coconut fiber, making a kind of bridge across diagnal the lower tank from one modified turtle perch to the other.. They seem to like climbing across the bridge and they are able to reach up to the top screen and crawl around upside down for hours.. My hermies (3) come out during the day or night. Depending how long they have been out wandering around. A flash wont hurt the hermies, but the glass will reflect the light so you wont get a good picture anyway. When I get my double decker set up I will just use ambient lighting and try to light the room the best I can to see inside.. Can see your crabitat really nice inside! I would like to see some of your moon pictures. Put the camera on timer and just set it own and use the longest shutter speed you can, if it adjustable. If you try and hold it, they will be blurry. Can't wait to see!

Hey, at least it's something! I'm sure they'll appreciate their tank just as much as anyone else's. I don't even have crabs yet but I'm BOOKING it towards clearing a space for them. I like the log in the back that's just peeking up out of the EE.

Yes, thank you! It's been really fun only using natural items I have found at the beach and nearby areas. My hope is to replicate their natural environment as much as possible.

Fyi, I have 3 under now for About 2 weeks, and 2 "up".

My next project is a "bridge" constructed of natural palmetto fronds. Fun!

Trying fresh coconut "meat" with tonight's meal. Can't wait to see if they like it!

Update: Amazing - in a just a few minutes, Primo was on the coconut munching away!!

Update 2: All coconut chunks are gone! I briefly saw Papi and Primo eating. Came back later and poof, gone! Guess they love it

My gang destroyed the coconut! Do others' crabs love it to?

I've never gotten mine a fresh coconut, but from what I've heard it's one of the best things to feed them! Too bad I live in the sticks and the stores never have them.

I have bought them from Amazon. The seller is Susie's Incredible Books and Things. She is very particular and only sells them when fresh, so its a little hit or miss, but there are no bad reviews like in the above link.

It was about $12 for about 7 oz of fresh white coconut, which was in great condition and readily eaten (destroyed) by my hermies

I actually have her phone number somewhere if anyone wants it, very nice lady and hermie enthusiast too!

A friend called me and has a poor small hermie they want me to adopt, which i will gladly do. I look forward to nursing it back to health. My only concern is there a risk to my established hermies? I don't have an extra tank to isolate it...

Is it sick in any way or has mites? If so, then I would isolate, but if you give it the once over and it looks fine, then I'd add it to the tank. :) (Freshwater dip ect.)

Micros often times do back to back molts because their one goal is to get bigger. Someone said they only saw their micro 5 times in the first year of having them and only really late at night. I've only seen my smallest twice and both were in the wee hours of the morning.
