Painting tank decorations?
So I'm a very crafty person in my spare time. I've been planning on designing the tank with fixtures to make it look like the shire from Lord of the Rings. I already know what kind of clay I want to use (bentonite), but I don't know what to do about color. Is there a safe kind of paint, or maybe a safe way to seal the color before using the fixtures in their tank?

I'm not entirely sure if a sealant works. I know with shells the paint is toxic and the hermit crabs will eat shells for calcium, so the paint restricts that. But maybe aquarium safe sealants will work?

If you use a glaze normally used for food items, it should be fine to use an crab safe. The issue is not everyone has access to glazes, and off the top of my head, the process is a little different?

I assume you mean something like a pottery glaze. That could work. I have used glazes like that before. You just need a kiln for it. I think I might have a tiny kiln somewhere. I'll see what I can do. Thank youaussieJJDude wrote: ↑Thu Jul 18, 2019 10:06 amIf you use a glaze normally used for food items, it should be fine to use an crab safe. Yeah. Them! Haha, never done pottery so I have little/no idea on what everything called and the exact process that it entails. Thankfully you managed to get at what I was saying!BlazeTheWeirdo wrote: I assume you mean something like a pottery glaze. That could work. I have used glazes like that before.
